Abstract:Vacuum ultraviolet instrumentation compatible with simultaneous operation of the argon ion laser is described and perturbation spectroscopy on the resonance transitions of the argon ion is reported. Observations suggest a largely nonradiative destruction of the lower levels of the lasering transitions at current densities up to 300 A cm−2 and within a pressure range of 0.1 to 0.5 Torr.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
