Validation of Accept, a New Generic Measure to Assess How Patients with Chronic Diseases Balance Between the Advantages and Disadvantages of Following the Recommended Treatment Regimen in Real-life

Abstract: A335 were asked to complete Accept and MMAS-4 questionnaires at Month 1, 3 and 6 after having given their informed consent. The structure was explored through PCA, and confirmed with multi-trait analysis. Internal consistency reliability of dimensions was assessed through Cronbach's alpha. Scale-scale correlations were calculated. Results: After reduction, Accept was made of 25 items organised in 1 overall Acceptance score and 6 domain-specific scores (efficacy, tolerance, convenience, constraints, treatment d… Show more

“…The ACCEPT© questionnaire is a generic patient-reported outcome questionnaire specifically developed to assess patients’ acceptance of long-term medications. Its development and its psychometric validation included a literature review, pharmacist and patient interviews, and a specific validation study conducted with 189 patients recruited through pharmacists [ 12 , 13 ]. The ACCEPT© questionnaire comprises seven independent dimensions: one on general acceptance (Acceptance/General) and six treatment-attribute specific, covering all specific attributes of drug: Acceptance/Medication Inconvenience, Acceptance/Long-term Treatment, Acceptance/Regimen Constraints, Acceptance/Numerous Medications, Acceptance/Side effects, and Acceptance/Effectiveness (Table 1 ).…”

“…Patient satisfaction, convenience and adherence were evaluated in phase III (EAGER) and phase IV (2403, FREE, FR01, and GB01) studies using different questionnaires such as the modified-treatment satisfaction questionnaire for medication (TSQM), 54 , 55 ACCEPTance, 56 the revised cystic fibrosis questionnaire (CFQ-R), 57 the Italian CFQ (ITA-CFq), and the Morisky scale. 58 EAGER, 2403, FREE, and GB01 studies utilized the TSQM questionnaire for evaluating patients reported outcomes (effectiveness, satisfaction, convenience, and side effects).…”
