“…As such, the presence of pain may introduce fluctuations in PAF that could affect the usefulness of pre-pain classification methods. While Furman and colleagues [8] demonstrated excellent reliability of sensorimotor PAF over several days of sustained pain, an in-depth investigation of the methodological factors that may influence PAF reliability was not conducted, including the pre-processing pipeline used to reduce EEG signal noise [17, 18], the frequency window used to calculate PAF [11], the duration of the EEG recording [19], how the peak frequency is identified [5], and the sensors/region of interest chosen to calculate PAF [20].
