Value Analysis of Sperm Spontaneous Acrosome Reaction in Male Fertility Evaluation

Li T1,
et al.

Abstract: Objective: Using correlation analysis between the sperm spontaneous acrosome reaction rate (SARR) and routine semen parameters in male infertility patients, we explored the value of the sperm spontaneous acrosome reaction in the evaluation of sperm functions. Methods:The participants comprised of 219 male infertility patients who had visited the Center for Reproductive Medicine, Shandong University from October 2016 to March 2017. According to the sperm SARR, we classified the patients with infertility into th… Show more

“…This speculation was confirmed by the spermatozoa acrosome integrity test, as 17.80% of the spermatozoa in the LSM were acrosome damaged. Similar to the previous report in humans (59), the results here suggest that acrosome degradation might be one of the factors leading to poor sperm motility.…”

“…For the acrosome reaction to occur, it is essential that sperm membrane integrity is intact and metabolic processes within spermatozoa structures run in a normal way [Šerniené et al 2005]. Spermatozoa with premature acrosome reaction are incapable of fusion with egg [Li et al 2017]. Cell membrane of boar spermatozoa is particularly sensitive to temperature changes due to its specific structure.…”
