Vapour-phase method in the synthesis of polymer-ibuprofen sodium-silica gel composites

Abstract: The study discusses the synthesis of polymer-silica composites comprising water soluble drug (ibuprofen sodium, IBS). The polymers selected for this study were poly(TRIM) and poly(HEMA--TRIM) produced in the form of permanently porous beads via the suspension-emulsion polymerization method. The acid and base set ternary composites were prepared by the saturation of the solid dispersions of drug (poly(TRIM)-IBS and/or poly(HEMA--TRIM)-IBS) with TEOS, and followed by their exposition to the vapour mixture of wat… Show more

“…The cumulative release data have been fitted to the theoretical and the empirical equations of zero and first order kinetics, Higuchi model, Hixson-Crowell model and Korsmeyer-Peppas model. 47,48 All they showed the reasonable fits to the first hour data, while the fit quality got worse over the 24 h interval. The coefficients of determination (R 2 ) of the aforementioned models applied to the 24 h data were between 0.85 and 0.98 varying non-systematically between the samples.…”
