Variability studies in Intra specific crosses of Indian mustard [Brassica juncea (L.) Czern and Coss.] genotypes

Abstract: The genetic variability in intra specific crosses of Indian mustard Brassica juncea (L.) Czern and Coss.genotypes were evaluated during rabi 2009-10 to study the genetic variability, heritability and genetic advance as percentage of mean for nine quantitative characters viz. plant height (cm), number of siliquae per main branch, number of primary branches per plant, number of secondary branches per plant, length of siliquae (cm), number of seeds per siliqua and seed yield per plant (g), days to 50% flowering a… Show more

“…High heritability along with high genetic advance as percent of mean was recorded by number of secondary branches/plant followed by yield/plot and number of pods/plant. Similar result was found by [15] in his study on B.juncea. Among the 64 genotypes, twelve genotypes were found to be having pure yellow seed colour.…”

“…Reproductive efficiency (RE) was only positively associated with seed yield and siliqua number in B. napus. The above results are supported by many workers (Yadava et al, 2011;Hasan et al, 2014;Synrem et al, 2014).…”
