Variasi Penambahan Gliserol Pada Pembuatan Bioplastik Limbah Cair Tahu

Abstract

Bioplastics are packaging that can be degraded naturally by the environment. Tofu liquid waste, which has a high content of organic materials such as protein, can be used as raw material for bioplastics. The use of tofu liquid waste as a material for forming bioplastics has yet to produce bioplastics with good characteristics. Therefore, the production of bioplastics requires other constituent materials, including glycerol, as a plasticizer. This research examines the effect of variations in the addition of glycerol on the characteristics of the bioplastic produced. This study used a completely randomized plan with five treatments and three replications. If there is a fundamental difference, continue with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test at a significance level of 5%. The research results show that variations in the addition of glycerol significantly affect the values of tensile strength, elongation, modulus young, water absorption, and biodegradation of the bioplastics produced. The addition of 7% glycerol was the best treatment, with an average thickness value of 0.175 mm, tensile strength of 12.2 MPa, elongation of 15.93%, modulus young of 0.76 MPa, water absorption of 52.54%, and biodegradation of 8.26%/ day.
