Abstract: Este artigo tem como principal objetivo analisar como a História do Brasil, escrita em 1836 pelo comerciante inglês John Armitage, pode ser entendida dentro dos parâmetros de uma historiografia de presença, e que espécie de práticas caracterizariam esse tipo de historiografia.
