Verification of computational optimum tilt angles of a photovoltaic module using an experimental photovoltaic system

Abstract: Determination of the optimum tilt angles of a photovoltaic module is of great importance because the power of photovoltaic module is highly dependent on the incident solar radiation. The purpose of this research was to verify the computational optimum tilt angles of a PV module by conducting an experimental research in Kerman‐Iran. For achieving this, first, the optimum tilt angles were found using a computational model which predicts the module output energy at different tilt angles. Second, monthly, seasonal… Show more

“…21, it was supposed that the increase of thermal resistance of the first three layers increases the module temperature, but the results show that the effect of solar radiation reduction in the module temperature is more significant than the thermal resistance increase. This fact has been confirmed by several researchers in this field as well [10,35]. Fig.…”

“…Among the factors that considerably affects the availability of solar irradiation on a surface, the most prominent is the tilt angle ( β ) of a surface . To enhance the capability of receiving maximum solar radiation for optimizing performance of solar based devices, it requires an option such as solar tracking equipment which follows the trajectory of the Sun's motion.…”

“…They also presented the design parameters for the longterm performance of the hot water system and the validation of the f-chart. Pourgharibshahi et al [10] verified the optimum slope angles of a photovoltaic panel by caring out an experimental study in Iran. It was expressed that the panel fixed at the yearly optimum slope angle reduced 3% the energy output when it was compared with that fixed at the experimental optimum slope angle.…”
