Abstract:This paper proves the modal vibration properties of general rotating, cyclically symmetric (or rotationally periodic) systems, including those with central components to which cyclically symmetric substructures are attached. This cyclic symmetry results in structured modal properties with only two possible mode types referred to as substructure and coupled modes. For systems with uncoupled central component translations and rotations, which is the usual case, all eigenvectors fall into one of three categories:… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
