Vibration Transmission of a Cylindrical Shell with an Interior Rectangular Plate with the Receptance Method

Abstract: Vibration transmission characteristics of a cylindrical shell with a rectangular plate are discussed in this paper by the substructure receptance method. The system is divided into two substructures: the plate and the shell. After finding the theoretical receptance function of each substructure, the coupling equation of the combined system is solved by considering the continuity conditions at the joint between the plate and the shell. The numerical results are compared with the experimental ones to show the va… Show more

“…In the past, different models of shell with non-axisymmetric internal struc- 25 tures have been proposed. Some of these studies have focused on the vibroacoustic behavior of non-axisymmetric cylindrical shells in vacuo [4,5,6,7,8].…”

“…The model was later extended by Lee et al (2003) to the case of laminated composites. This approach was also used by Wang et al (2004) to study the power flow characteristics of the plate-cylindrical shell structure and by Zhao et al (2012) to study the forced response of a platecylindrical shell structure. In all these works the plate-shell structures are finite.…”

“…The receptance method, which was useful in analyzing the free vibration of combined structures, 10,11 was applied by Lee and Choi 12 and Lee et al 13 to analyze the free vibration of a circular cylindrical shell with an interior floor. Recently, Zhao et al 14 discussed vibration transmission characteristics of a cylindrical shell with a rectangular plate by the substructure receptance method, in which the system is divided into two substructures, i.e. the plate and the shell.…”
