Vimentin-Rab7a Pathway Mediates the Migration of MSCs and Lead to Therapeutic Effects on ARDS

Abstract: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is difficult to treat and has a high mortality rate. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have an important therapeutic effect in ARDS. While the mechanism of MSC migration to the lungs remains unclear, the role of MSCs is of great clinical significance. To this end, we constructed vimentin knockout mice, extracted bone MSCs from the mice, and used them for the treatment of LPS-induced ARDS. H&E staining and Masson staining of mouse lung tissue allowed us to assess the d… Show more

“…4 B). Stretching and migration is a critical properties of MSCs moving to the site of injury for therapeutic effects [ 54 , 62 ]. IGF-1/uPLGA were faster to migrate and took shorter to heal the scratch as compared to the IGF-1/S ( Fig.…”

“…To evaluate cell recruitment and cell differentiation in vivo, IHC was performed on consecutive slides ( Figure 6 ). Vimentin is an intermediate filament protein that is expressed in MSCs and governs cell migration [ 41 , 42 ], while Sox2 is a representative marker of pluripotent cells and has a functional role in fracture healing [ 43 , 44 ]. To provide a detailed characterization of the cellular phenotype at the defect site, we analysed the spatial expression of Vimentin and Sox2.…”

“…The research suggests RAB7A shuttles between late endosomes and mitochondria to enable mitophagy [ 8 ] and RAB7A promotes the migration of MSCs [ 9 ]. Up to now, the roles of RAB7a has not been fully elucidated in human hepatocarcinogenesis.…”
