Wakefields studies for the SXFEL user facility

Abstract: Besides the original seeded undulator line, in the Soft X-ray free-electron laser (SXFEL) user facility at Shanghai, a second undulator line based on self-amplified spontaneous emission is proposed to achieve 2 nm laser pulse with extremely high brightness. In this paper, the beam energy deviation induced by the undulator wakefields is numerically obtained, and it is verified to have a good agreement between 3D and 2D simulation results. The beam energy loss along the undulator degrades the expected FEL output… Show more

“…A multi-phase transport (AMPT) model [17][18][19] demonstrated initial geometry fluctuations of partons created in Au + Au collisions and its effects on elliptic and triangular flow. Initial fluctuation effects have been also proposed on some observables or physics quantities, such as on collective obeservabels [20][21][22][23], conserved quantities [24], density fluctuations [25], and chiral effects [26,27] etc.…”

“…To understand these observables in experiments and QGP phase transition, there are also some open questions for small collision systems (such as C + C or O + O collisions) as well as large collision systems (such as Au + Au or Pb + Pb collisions), (1) how to understand transformation coefficient from initial geometry distribution or fluctuation to momentum distribution at final stage in hydrodynamical mechanism [20,[28][29][30]; (2) how to understand similar phenomena for some observables for small systems with high multiplicity and large systems [9,10,[31][32][33][34][35][36][37]; (3) does the matter created in different size of system undergo the similar dy-namical process and have similar viscosity [38,39]?, and the last two questions are closely related. Recently the small system experiments were proposed for RHIC-STAR [40] and LHC-ALICE [41] to study the initial geometry distribution and fluctuations effects on momentum distribution at final stage.…”

“…This enables a powerful new approach for surface and interface analysis with broad applicability to many scientific fields, as it combines the elemental and chemical specificity of X-ray absorption spectroscopy with the rigorous interfacial specificity of second-order nonlinear spectroscopies, while maintaining a fully coherent signal. With several new coherent free electron lasers under development (SwissFEL, SXFEL, LCLS-II, FLASH2020) [15,16], this new technique offers exciting applications to a wide range of problems.…”
