Water‐Deactivated Polyelectrolyte Hydrogel Electrolytes for Flexible High‐Voltage Supercapacitors

Abstract: With the boom of flexible electronic products and wearable devices, flexible energy storage devices, for example, supercapacitors with high performance, are attracting increasing interest. A flexible water-deactivated polyelectrolyte hydrogel electrolyte with good mechanical properties and high ionic conductivity was prepared by using an anionic polymer, carboxy methyl cellulose, and a cationic monomer, methacrylamidopropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride. It was then applied in a supercapacitor with flexible activ… Show more

“…S7, the absorption peak at 964 cm −1 is assigned to the stretching vibration of -N(CH 3 ) 3 + functional groups and the peak at 1540 cm −1 is characteristic of C=O asymmetric stretching of the carboxylate anion. These features clearly confirm the coexistence of positive -N(CH 3 ) 3 + and negative -COO − functional groups in all the samples [32,33]. Compared with the p(MAA-MAPTAC), the CGs feature an absorbance peak of C=O stretching vibration at…”

“…To further improve the crystal‐type composite gel, 3‐dimethyl(methacryloyloxyethyl) ammonium propane sulfonate (DMAPS; Figure S1, Supporting Information) was used as a zwitterionic monomer to prepare the zwitterionic crystal‐type composite gel electrolyte. This is because the zwitterionic gel electrolyte was proven to be a promising gel electrolyte catering for energy storage devices . The crystal‐type composite gel were recorded as “A x D y –NaAc z ” according to the concentration of the two monomers and the mass ratio of NaAc.…”

“…[ 1 ] The hydrogels are polymeric materials that absorb and retain large amounts of water while maintaining their 3D structure. [ 2 ] Owing to their high hydrophilicity, excellent flexibility, [ 3 ] and adjustable porous structure, [ 4 ] they are widely applied in the flexible electronic biosensors, [ 5 ] soft robots, [ 6 ] and catalyst supports. [ 7 ] Especially, it has become the hot spots and frontiers for biomass‐based hydrogels to make full use of abundant biomass resources and develop environment‐friendly green products based on their inherent biocompatibility, biodegradability, and lightweight properties.…”
