Abstract:Two cases of water interaction witb virgin PET and with metallized (Al) PET were studied using thermal desorp tion spectroscopy (TDS) and dynamic secondary ion mass speetrometry (SIMS), respectively. On the one hand, the TDS approach tends to show that the water is weakly bound to the polyester (-10 kcal mol-I); on the other hand, the SIMS study performed on metallized PET shows an enhancement of the water concentration around the interface. These results are discussed in order to elucidate tbe presence of suc… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
