Phase change materials (PCM) can absorb or release a huge amount of latent heat in accordance with the increase or decrease of the surrounding temperature. Among all the studied PCMs, organic PCM paraffin has been chosen due to the large energy storage capacity for thermal energy storage (TES). The present work introduces a thermally modified phase change material by TiO2 foam impregnation in paraffin. Three TiO2/paraffin PCM composites TPCM1, TPCM2, and TPCM3 containing 10 wt.%, 15 wt.%, and 20 wt.% of TiO2 foam with paraffin have been successfully synthesized for thermal energy storage. The porous TiO2 foam can provide a high paraffin loading capacity of up to 80 % (TPCM3) due to hollow cavities. TiO2 foam is uniformly distributed over the inner and outer surface of the paraffin as a nano additive to enhance the thermal conductivity (TC) of the composite PCM. The structural, morphological, and thermal study revealed that doping of the supporting material has potentially modified all the criteria of PCM composite for TES. The highest leakage-proof result was obtained for 20 wt.% of TiO2 foam impregnated composite (TPCM3) by analysing mass loss across 500 thermal cycles in an oven at 80°C. The thermal reliability of the TPCM3 composite has also been investigated after 500 thermal cycles. The TPCM3 composite maintains its crystalline nature with homogeneous dispersion and thermal stability without affecting the thermal and chemical properties of the PCM. The latent heat of the TPCM3 composite reached 182.87 J/g, and the thermal conductivity has been calculated at 0.71 W/m-K, which is 3.73 times higher than paraffin. The results concluded that synthesized TPCM3 composite could be a potential candidate for TES due to chemical and physical compatibility, easy synthesis process, good thermal and chemical reliability, and acceptable energy storage capacity with enhanced thermal conductivity.

We think of the cleanup of water pollution in the Ganges river in India as a local public good and ask whether this cleanup ought to be decentralized or centralized. We depart from the existing literature on this subject in two important ways. First, we allow the heterogeneous spillovers from cleaning up water pollution to be positive or negative. Second, we focus on water pollution cleanup in three cities---Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi---through which the Ganges flows.Our model sheds light on two broad issues. First, we characterize efficient water pollution cleanup in the three cities, we describe how much water pollution is cleaned up under decentralization, we describe the set of cleanup amounts under decentralization, and we discuss why pollution cleanup under decentralization is unlikely to be efficient. Second, we focus on centralization. We derive the tax paid by the inhabitants of the three cities for pollution cleanup, the benefit to a city inhabitant from water pollution cleanup, how majority voting determines how much pollution is cleaned up when the spillovers from cleanup are uniform, and finally, we compare the amounts of pollution cleaned up with majority voting with the efficient pollution cleanup amounts.

Water is the active basis for the movement and transformation of various biological, physical and chemical substances and the flow of energy. On the one hand, the quality of water environment is very sensitive to changes in the external world; on the other hand, water quality affects the health of organisms and ecosystems through ecological support and other functions. The space-time distribution of water quality was analyzed according to the composition of basic substances and established water quality standards, which provided scientific basis for the rational development and utilization of water resources planning and management. In this paper, the stochastic forest algorithm was used to evaluate the water pollution degree of Qingshui River basin. This paper first analyzed the causes of Qingshui River pollution, and introduced the establishment method of random forest (RF) classification model. After that, this paper established the evaluation criteria of water pollution degree, and constructed the evaluation model of water pollution degree of Qingshui River basin according to the RF algorithm. In the experiment part, the quantity of decision trees (DT) of the RF model was set to 400 through sample training, and the classification accuracy of the RF classification model and the artificial neural network (ANN) model was compared. The experimental results showed that the RF classification model has a high classification accuracy rate of 97.33%, which can be used to assess the degree of water pollution. At the end of this paper, the RF classification model was used to evaluate the water pollution degree of the Qingshui River basin. The results showed that for the three stations in the Qingshui River basin, the water quality classification results are Class I, Class III, and Class IV. The water pollution degree of the Qingshui River basin is relatively serious.
