“…The enhancement solution contained 3 constituents: an anionic surfactant (sodium dodecanoate, SDD or sodium dodecyl sulfate, SDS) or nonionic surfactant (Pluronic F-127 or Pl), a well-known polymer used as a stabilizer or thickener (carboxymethyl cellulose, CMC or hydroxyethylcellulose, HEC) and a defoaming agent (lignosulfonic acid sodium salt or LAS). Enhancement solutions containing the specified or other surfactant(s) and/or polymer(s) have long been utilized or suggested for stabilizing suspensions for different applications. The effectiveness of 5 different enhancement solution combinations on the stability of the adsorbent suspensions was investigated: A. CMC + SDD + LAS; B. HEC + SDD + LAS; C. CMC + SDS + LAS; D. HEC + SDS + LAS; and E. CMC + Pl + LAS, respectively. A control sample, that is, the adsorbent suspension without the enhancement solution, was also prepared.…”
