Water Soluble Mixed Ligand Complexes Spectral, antioxidant, antimicrobial and DNA interaction studies

Abstract: A new series of water soluble mixed ligand complexes [MII(L)(bpy)AcO].nH2O M = Cu, (n=1) (1); Co (2), Mn (3), Ni (4) (n=4) and Zn (5) (n=2) have been synthesized from 2-(2-Morpholinoethylimino)methyl)phenol Schiff base ligand (HL) and 2,2-bipyridine in a 1:1:1 molar ratio. The resulting complexes were characterized by spectral techniques. The spectral data of these complexes suggest an octahedral geometry. In vitro antioxidant activity results of DPPH assay, hydroxyl radical, super oxide and nitric oxide for … Show more

“…We carefully monitored the absorbance at 517, 230, 590, and 546 nm while carrying out the antioxidant properties for DPPH, hydroxyl, superoxide, and nitric oxide radical scavenging. In addition, the obtained IC 50 findings of all test substances were also contrasted with those of standard ascorbic acid [ 40 , 41 , 42 ].…”

“…These methods are frequently employed to evaluate a compound's ability to scavenge free radicals and the antioxidant activity of the targeted free ligand and metal complexes. [119][120][121][122] The observed percentage of inhibition efficiency for all substances in terms of the IC 50 findings for these assays is shown in Fig. S42a-d and Tables S12-S15.…”

“…While performing the antioxidant properties for the DPPH, hydroxyl, superoxide, and nitric oxide radical scavenging, the absorbance at 517, 230, 590, and 546 nm, respectively, was closely observed. In addition, the observed IC 50 values of all samples were compared with ascorbic acid [49][50][51].…”
