Weakly Nonlinear Stability Analysis of Temperature/Gravity-Modulated Stationary Rayleigh–Bénard Convection in a Rotating Porous Medium

Abstract: The effect of time-periodic temperature/gravity modulation on thermal instability in a fluid-saturated rotating porous layer has been investigated by performing a weakly nonlinear stability analysis. The disturbances are expanded in terms of power series of amplitude of convection. The Ginzburg-Landau equation for the stationary mode of convection is obtained and consequently the individual effect of temperature/gravity modulation on heat transport has been investigated. Further, the effect of various paramete… Show more

“…They recovered viscous flow results of Venezian (1969), as a special case when the value of the porous parameter tends to zero. The related problem has been extensively investigated by Chhuon and Caltagirone (1979), Malashetty and Wadi (1999), Bhadauria (2007a, b, c), Bhadauria and Sherani (2008), Bhadauria and Srivastava (2010), Bhadauria and Siddheshwar (2012), Siddheshwar et al (2012), and Kiran (2013, 2014a, b, c).…”

“…The objective of the investigation was to establish the condition when the motionless solution (51) is not stable and consequently a resulting convection pattern appears. Therefore a linear stability analysis was employed, representing the solution as a sum of the basic solution (51) and small perturbations in the form…”

“…There are in-homogeneous GL equations also. Bhaduria et al [27] analyzed the effect of thermal/gravity modulation in a rotating fluid saturated porous layer by performing non-linear stability using Ginburg-Landau equations. Srivastava et al [28] and Gupta and Bhadauria [29] have done studies on double diffusion with soret effect.…”
