Web3DGIS-Based System for Reservoir Landslide Monitoring and Early Warning

Abstract: Landslides are the most frequent type of natural disaster, and they bring about large-scale damage and are a threat to human lives and infrastructure; therefore, the ability to conduct real-time monitoring and early warning is important. In this study, a Web3DGIS (Web3D geographic information systems) system for monitoring and forecasting landslides was developed using the Danjiangkou Reservoir area as a case study. The development of this technique involved system construction, functional design, organizing a… Show more

“…For disaster planning, a 3D visualisation model was integrated with other advanced technologies to monitor and forecast the disaster. By integrating sensor technologies, spatial information technologies, 3D visualisation technologies, and a landslideforecasting model, it was used to monitor and forecast landslides in the Danjiangkou Reservoir area (Huang et. al., 2016).…”

“…Zagvozda et al [87] summarized the integration of GIS and pavement management systems, and introduced the evaluation and comparison of pavement conditions. By integrating sensor technology, spatial information technologies, 3D visualization technology and landslide prediction model, Huang et al [88] developed a Web3DGIS system, which is used for real-time monitoring and early warning of landslides. Afferden et al [89] discovered savings of up to 40% by using a GIS-based approach to evaluate local lowestcost wastewater solutions.…”

“…For the above reasons and especially in large-scale surface extraction works developed in multiple long benches, it is necessary to find an alternative methodology for the regular monitoring of the stability of all active faces, permanent slopes, as well as the slopes of the waste heaps [3][4][5]. In this context, it was considered appropriate to investigate under what conditions the common surveying equipment present in a surface mine for determining the volumes of excavations could be used to monitor slope displacement as well.…”
