Abstract:Hypertension in African descendants occurs early, with high rates of cardiovascular events compared to Caucasians. In addition, genetic influence, low levels of plasma renin activity, greater sensitivity to salt, low sodium secretion, and other mechanisms are involved and discussed in this article.
