What do end-users want to know about managing the performance of healthcare delivery systems? Co-designing a context-specific and practice-relevant research agenda

Abstract: Background Despite increasing interest in joint research priority-setting, few studies engage end-user groups in setting research priorities at the intersection of the healthcare and management disciplines. With health systems increasingly establishing performance management programmes to account for and incentivize performance, it is important to conduct research that is actionable by the end-users involved with or impacted by these programmes. The aim of this study was to co-design a research… Show more

“…This will hopefully help address barriers and ultimately help improve adherence with this intervention should it become standard of care. Thus, the likelihood that these findings will influence perioperative care for surgical patients with obesity in Canada will be greater because of the end-users who invested in this research from the onset [ 20 ]. Once these studies are complete, we will plan to disseminate our findings via peer-reviewed publication, conference presentation(s), and social media.…”

“…During the design phase of these new technologies, collaboration is imminent among technology designers, dental professionals, and vendors. The inclusion of end-users during the design process is vital to ensuring the success of clinical information systems [39]. Even the most sophisticated technologies could fail if a mismatch exists between the new technology and clinical working methods.…”
