When did the Danish nation emerge? A review of Danish historians’ attempts to date the Danish nation

Abstract: This article provides a review of the debate among Danish historians on the emergence of the Danish nation. It places this debate in the context of the distinction between patriotism and nationalism, much discussed by many scholars of nationalism.
