“…Overall, this pattern of results is conceptually meaningful and corresponds with past theory and research (Lahey & Willcutt, 2010). These findings further strengthen the association of psychopathic traits with disruptive behavior disorders highlighting the importance of considering all psychopathic traits in relation to not only CD but potentially also ODD (Burke et al, 2023;Chrysosferidis et al, 2023;Fanti et al, 2018;Fontaine et al, 2008; see also Bergstrøm & Farrington, 2018;Vahl et al, 2016;Widiger & Crego, 2018). The present study findings serve as additional evidence of the PSCD's convergent and discriminant validity.…”

“…When different dimensions were specifically examined, CU traits seem to be more related with impairments in emotion recognition, with GM traits being to some extent also related with better accuracy -and higher fixation to the mouth -for angry faces, when controlling for the other two dimensions (Gillen et al, 2018;Levantini et al, 2022). As observed in previous results, it seems that the combination between all psychopathy dimensions is what better identifies a more serious group of problematic children and youths (e.g., Bergstrøm & Farrington, 2022;Burke et al, 2022;Colins et al, 2022;Fanti et al, 2018;López-Romero et al, 2021; according to the current results, it could be the case that these individuals, with overall high levels on psychopathic traits, would also be the most impaired in terms of emotion recognition. Interestingly, these results held in both correlational and between-groups designs.…”

“…Likewise, and also from a conceptual standpoint, arguments to exclude, for example, overt antisocial behavior (CD) because of the assumption that it is not central to the concept may also eliminate key criteria given that the four‐factor model showed a good fit to the data when the CD component was included in the factor model. Thus, conceptual arguments and factor analytic findings suggest that the personality characteristics in combination with conduct problems may be highly pertinent to our understanding of children and adolescents with disruptive behavior disorders (i.e., CD and potentially ODD) (Burke et al, 2022; Freestone et al, 2013; Hare et al, 2018; Lόpez‐Romero et al, 2021; Salekin, 2022). In addition to the good model fit for the factor structure, the MIC values indicated that the internal consistency of the scales for the PSCD were also very good.…”

“…These results highlight the potential value of examining the various dimensions to better comprehend CD. Examining these subdimension relations may open new ways of discussion and analyses in developmental models and subtyping approaches of youth conduct problems (CD) and potentially ODD (Burke et al, 2022). Even though additional evidence needs to be collected, these findings, if replicated, may be quite remarkable in that they highlight that while those with GM traits are exhibiting conduct problems and low levels of prosocial behavior, they appear to be liked by their peers.…”
