Whole-body metabolism during and after abdominal surgery

Abstract: NUMEROUS t'APErtS have been written on the effect of general anaesthesia and surgical procedures on one or more of the various aspects of metabolism, but none correlates many measurable variables in the same patients. Better understanding of the changes occurring in the body during and after operation should improve the safety of the operation.
