Whole-HDD structure airflow-simulation by voxel mesh method

Abstract: Numerical ftuid simulation based on the l:oxel mesh method was applied to the whole structure of 3.5-inch hard disk drives, and the results were compal"ed with the experimental results obtained by a PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) system The results demonstrated that the velocity distributioos agree well, and that this method is useful for modeling a complicated geometry such as that of hard disk drives.
