Why are Vietnamese people susceptible to cryptocurrency Ponzi schemes? Findings from using the PLS-SEM approach

Abstract: Purpose This paper aims to explore factors influencing Vietnamese people’s susceptibility to fraud through cryptocurrency Ponzi schemes. Design/methodology/approach This study uses the gullibility theory, the theory of planned behavior theory, the traditional theory of finance and the theory of financial behavior, to develop a questionnaire which is then sent to respondents who are Vietnamese individuals. Subsequently, the partial least squares structural equation modeling approach (PLS-SEM) is used to analy… Show more

“…All constructs had an AVE value greater than 0.5, indicating an adequate convergent validity (Schmiedel et al , 2014). All items had a VIF value smaller than 5, thus, confirming that the independent items are not correlated to one another (Nguyen et al , 2023)…”

All items had a VIF value smaller than 5, thus, confirming that the independent items are not correlated to one another (Nguyen et al, 2023) Finally, discriminant validity is analyzed using the Fornell-Larcker and HTMT criteria. Discriminant validity on Fornell-Larcker criteria (Table S2) is confirmed as the square root of all constructs in which AVE is greater than the correlation of the same constructs (Hair et al, 2019b).…”
