“…We based the current study on the work of Hazan and Shaver (1987), which conceptualized interpersonal attachment styles as secure, anxious, or avoidant. A secure attachment style, which reflects a positive model of the self and others, is defined as a person's ability to become emotionally close to others and to be comfortable relying on them and supporting them (Paquette et al, 2020). Secure individuals who consider others trustworthy, helpful, and dependable are able to reduce distress and remove obstacles by turning to others, thus ensuring high levels of attachment, relationship quality, and commitment (Dijkstra et al, 2017).…”

“…More recently, Ratelle and colleagues (2013) have similarly proposed that romantic passion may follow a dual model. Applying Vallerand and colleagues (2003) dual model of passion originally developed in the context of passion toward activities (e.g., work, education, sport, and leisure activities), this dual model suggests two different forms of romantic passion: the similarly named obsessive romantic passion and harmonious romantic passion (Carbonneau & Vallerand, 2013; Carbonneau et al., 2016; Paquette et al., 2020; Rapaport et al., 2018; Ratelle et al., 2013). In applying this theory of passion toward activities to romantic relationships, however, the meaning of romantic passion takes on a somewhat different meaning than the classic conceptualization of romantic passion or passionate love in relationship science.…”

“…In light of the proven importance of the interrelatedness between marital outcomes and mental health, a great number of studies have been implemented to address the predictors of successful and unsuccessful marital relationship. These studies proposed some essential variables, such as attachment styles (Amani & Khosroshahi, 2020;Paquette et al, 2020), personality (Amani & Majzoobi, 2012;Kazempour & Hossein Sabet, 2018;Kuruku & Aloho, 2018), self-compassion and forgiveness (Fahimdanesh et al, 2020), religious beliefs, prayer, and forgiveness (Olson et al, 2015), to cite just a few, as the predictors of the state of the marital relationship. Along with the aforementioned well-known intrapersonal variables, whose role in predicting marital outcomes has been proven by many studies, some interpersonal variables have likewise been demonstrated to be effective in anticipating marital outcomes.…”
