Due to rapid information and communication technology (ICT) growth, government agencies must manage more digital apps to support public service operations and administration. In Indonesia, at least 400,000 applications have been received by various ministries and government agencies. This amount will hurt the ICT budget’s investment and waste if no approach is employed. Problems can be solved with application portfolio management (APM). Indonesian government agencies’ AMP implementation is unclear. APM is applied at the government research institute agency for the assessment and application of technology (BPPT) in this study. BPPT was chosen due to APM’s lack of ICT investment management. This research examined 41 submissions from the 2019 digital transformation initiative. APM selected two mapping models. The outcome indicates how APM may offer ICT strategies for current applications to government entities. This analysis mapped existing applications into two models: McFarlan’s strategic grid and gartner’s TIME model. Mapping findings from these two models-technical health evaluations and regulatory compliance-may be used for application sustainability suggestions. 11 treatments were advised for maintenance and investment, while 4 applications were recommended for removal. This research helps us understand how the Indonesian government institute maintains its application portfolio and how APM might be a valuable method for application management.

Purpose Against a background context of Construction 4.0, this study aims to explore what digital leadership in construction firms is, why it is necessary and what considerations it involves. It provides a digital leadership considerations framework to aid organisational digital transformations. Design/methodology/approach To address the research question informing what digital leadership involves, an interpretivist study was conducted. Eleven purposively selected expert practitioners, including construction business leaders and company digital champions were surveyed using in-depth semi-structured interviews. This obtained insights and reflections on how construction leaders can impel digital transformations. Findings How construction leaders can embed the skills to drive such transformation in their firms, what the essential digital skills for construction businesses now are in Construction 4.0 and how leaders can attempt to evaluate the value of digital technology for their business practices, are all crystallised. Impacts of digital transformations on the construction workplace are also highlighted. Practical implications Because of this work, business leaders will be better equipped to lead and support further digital transformation efforts in Construction 4.0. Future research directions aid academics. Originality/value Clear definitions of digital transformation and digital leadership are provided, and a digital leadership considerations framework is provided to support firm-level digital transformations for Construction 4.0.

Since 2019, researchers examining, archiving, and collecting extremist and terrorist materials online have increasingly been taken offline. In part a consequence of the automation of content moderation by different technology companies and national governments calling for ever quicker takedowns. Based on an online survey of peers in the field, this research highlights that up to 60% of researchers surveyed have had either their accounts or content they have posted or stored online taken down from varying platforms. Beyond the quantitative data, this research also garnered qualitative answers about concerns individuals in the field had related to this problem set, namely, the lack of transparency on the part of the technology companies, hindering actual research and understanding of complicated and evolving issues related to different extremist and terrorist phenomena, undermining potential collaboration within the research field, and the potential of self‐censorship online. An easy solution to this would be a whitelist, though there are inherent downsides related to this as well, especially between researchers at different levels in their careers, institutional affiliation or lack thereof, and inequalities between researchers from the West versus Global South. Either way, securitizing research in however form it evolves in the future will fundamentally hurt research.
