S u m m a r yManagers willingly use performance as the key element in the motivation of employees, evaluation of their work, as well as an important indicator in the bonus system. The measurement of performance allows not only the explanation of the cause of the occurrence of a deviation in the efficiency of nurses' work, but also facilitates the implementation of actions improving the quality of performance of occupational activities.The objective of the study was analysis of literature concerning the structure and principles of the application of instruments used for the assessment of performance of nurses. The review of literature pertaining to the tools for the evaluation of efficiency of performance of nurses showed a large number of international reports; however, there is a total lack in the Polish literature. Analysis of literature allowed the formulation of the following conclusions: in Poland, there is a lack of studies concerning the measurement of performance of nurses. The performance of nurses should be measured by the tool which enables its evaluation in a multi-aspect context, and possesses a high reliability and validity. S t r e s z c z e n i eMenedżerowie chętnie stosują wydajność jako element kluczowy w motywowaniu pracowników, ocenie ich pracy, a także jako istotny wskaźnik w systemach premiowania. Pomiar wydajności pozwala nie tylko na objaśnienie przyczyny powstania odchylenia w wydajności pracy pielęgniarek, ale także ułatwia wprowadzenie działań poprawiających jakość realizacji czynności zawodowych.Celem pracy była analiza piśmiennictwa, dotycząca struktury oraz zasad stosowania narzędzi, używanych w pomiarze wydajności pracy pielęgniarek. Przegląd piś-miennictwa dotyczącego narzędzi do oceny wydajności pracy pielęgniarek wykazał ich dużą liczbę w piśmiennictwie zagranicznym oraz zupełny brak w piśmiennictwie polskim. Analiza piśmiennictwa pozwoliła na sformułowanie nastę-pujących wniosków: w Polsce brak jest badań dotyczących pomiaru wydajności pracy pielęgniarek. Pomiar wydajności pracy należy dokonać narzędziem, które umożliwia ocenę wydajności pracy w kontekście wieloaspektowym oraz posiada wysoki współczynnik rzetelności i trafności.

Making a successful return to work: the UK burden of injury multicentre longitudinal study

BackgroundInjuries are common and make a significant contribution to sickness absence, but little is known about problems experienced by injured people on return to work (RTW). AimTo quantify work problems on RTW and explore predictors of such problems. Design & settingMulticentre longitudinal study in four UK hospitals. MethodProspective study of injured participants aged 16-65 years who were employed or selfemployed prior to the injury and had RTW at 1 or 4 months post injury. ResultsAt 1 month, most (59%) had only made a partial RTW. By 4 months, 80% had fully RTW. Those who had partially RTW had problems related to physical tasks (work limited for median of 25% of time at 1 month, 18% at 4 months), time management (10% at 1 month, 20% at 4 months) and output demands (10% at 1 month, 15% at 4 months). Productivity losses were significantly greater among those with partial than full RTW at 1 month (median 3.3% versus 0.9%, P<0.001) and 4 months (median 4.6% versus 1.1% P = 0.03). Moderate/severe injuries (relative risk [RR] 1.93, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.35 to 2.77) and sports injuries (RR 1.73, 95% CI = 1.12 to 2.67) were associated with significantly greater productivity losses at 1 month while pre-existing long-term illnesses (RR 2.12, 95% CI = 1.38 to 3.27) and upper limb injuries (RR 1.64, 95% CI = 1.06 to 2.53) were at 4 months. ConclusionInjuries impact on successful RTW for at least 4 months. Those who have only partially RTW experience the most problems and GPs should pay particular attention to identifying work problems in this group and ways of minimising such problems.

This study examined the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Work Role Functioning Questionnaire (WRFQ-Br) in workers with neoplasms undergoing radiotherapy in up-state São Paulo. Psychometric properties were evaluated in 51 subjects with cancer diagnoses undergoing radiotherapy between 2011 and 2012, and 105 healthy workers. The results indicated good internal consistency (Cronbach alpha = 0.77-0.93). Construct validity displayed significant differences (p<0.05) between groups in output, and mental and social demands. Convergent validity analysis revealed a relation between the WRFQ-Br and the Karnofsky scale. Data showed that WRFQ-Br demonstrated reliable psychometric properties for evaluating workers with cancer diagnoses in Brazil. El objetivo de este estudio fue evaluar las propiedades psicométricas del Cuestionario de Evaluación de Desempeño en el Trabajo (WRFQ-BR) en trabajadores portadores de neoplasia, sometidos a radioterapia en el interior del Estado de São Paulo. Participaron en el estudio 51 pacientes admitidos en los años de 2011 y 2012, y 105 trabajadores saludables En la evaluación de las propiedades psicométricas, se observó el alfa de Cronbach entre 0,77 y 0,93 en la evaluación de la consistencia interna. En la evaluación de validad, hubo una diferencia significativa entre los ítems que evalúan demandas de producción, mental y social (p <0,05) utilizando la técnica de los grupos conocidos; y correlación del score total del WRFQ-Br con los índices de la Escala de Karnofsky, en el enfoque convergente. El WRFQ-Br ha mostrado buenos resultados en la evaluación de sus propiedades psicométricas y se considera fiable para utilización en trabajadores con diagnóstico de cáncer.
