X‐Ray and Thermal Studies on ZnxMg1-x SO4.7H2O Crystals

Abstract: Single crystals of pure and mixed ZnSO 4 .7H 2 O and MgSO 4 .7H 2 O crystals were grown by slow evaporation method. The grown crystals were characterized by x-ray diffraction, atomic absorption spectral analysis and thermal analysis. The lattice parameters were calculated by from the XRD data. Atomic absorption spectral analysis showed that the Mg and Zn atoms were present in the mixed crystals. The thermal analysis by TGA and DTA showed that the mixed crystals have higher thermal stability than the pure cryst… Show more

“…The plot of the product of absorption coefficient and photon energy (αhυ) 2 versus the photon energy (hυ) at room temperature shows a linear behavior, which can be considered as evidence for direct transition. [ 37 ] Extrapolation of the linear portion of this curve to a point (αhυ) 2 = 0 gives the optical energy band gap E g for the triglycine oxalate crystal and which is found to be 3.80 eV.…”

“…The lattice parameters of pure, 0.25 M and 0.5 M zinc added MgO nanoparticles were determined by considering high reflections from the PXRD pattern using the method adopted in the literature. 19,20 The average grain size has been estimated using the Debye-Scherrer formula. The calculated lattice volume and grain size of pure and zinc added MgO nanoparticles are presented in Table 1.…”

“…As a result, L-arginine forms a number of salts with organic and inorganic acids showing non-linear optical properties [1][2]. L-arginine phosphate, Larginine diphosphate, L-arginine perchlorate, Larginine nitrate, L-arginine fluoride, L-arginine maleate, L-arginine formate, L-arginine acetate [3], etc., are some of the interesting NLO L-arginine crystals. All the compounds of L-arginine are crystallized in noncentrosymmetric group, because this class contains an optically active C-atom.…”
