Abstract:We report the first detection of X-ray polarization in the horizontal branch for as obtained by the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer ( A polarization degree of 4.3<!PCT!>pm 0.4<!PCT!> at a confidence level of 68<!PCT!> is obtained. This value agrees with the previous polarization measurements of Z-sources in the horizontal branch. The spectropolarimetric analysis, performed using a broadband spectral model obtained by and quasi-simultaneous observations, allowed us to constrain the polariza… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
