Your perspective and my benefit: multiple lesion models of self-other integration strategies during social bargaining

Abstract: Recursive social decision-making requires the use of flexible, context-sensitive long-term strategies for negotiation. To succeed in social bargaining, participants' own perspectives must be dynamically integrated with those of interactors to maximize self-benefits and adapt to the other's preferences, respectively. This is a prerequisite to develop a successful long-term self-other integration strategy. While such form of strategic interaction is critical to social decision-making, little is known about its n… Show more

“…This finding might not be considered as a potential false positive given that it is consistent with research showing the putative role of the insular cortex in interoception-also, we have employed a large voxel extent threshold (50 voxels) to prevent spurious findings, as shown with 10 voxels (Poldrack et al, 2017). In addition, this uncorrected threshold has been used as a standard value in previous VBM and functional connectivity research (García-Cordero et al, 2016;Hassanpour et al, 2016;Irish et al, 2014;Kuehn, Mueller, Lohmann, & Schuetz-Bosbach, 2016;Markett et al, 2014;Melloni et al, 2016;Rabinovici et al, 2007;Sedeno et al, 2017;Simmons et al, 2013).…”

“…The Data Processing Assistant for Resting‐State fMRI (DPARSF) (Chao‐Gan and Yu‐Feng, ) was used for preprocessing as in previous studies (Garcia‐Cordero et al, ; Melloni et al, ). Images were slice‐time corrected, realigned, normalized and smoothed (Fig.…”

“…Specifically, we realized we could at least break away from isolationist approaches to cognitive functions by exploring cross-domain interactions. Building on this premise, we have devoted most of our recent research efforts to: (i) assessing interactions among social-cognition skills in relation to more general cognitive functions Ibáñez and Cosmelli 2008;Barutta et al 2010); (ii) exploring the reciprocal dynamics between language and manual actions (Ibáñez et al 2013;García and Ibáñez 2016); (iii) tackling specific cognitive processes via complementary multidimensional neuroscientific techniques (García-Cordero et al 2016;Melloni et al 2016); and, more incipiently, (iv) conducting automated analyses of spontaneous verbal behavior in noncontrolled settings .…”
