Zebrafish Tric-b is required for skeletal development and bone cells differentiation

Abstract: IntroductionTrimeric intracellular potassium channels TRIC-A and -B are endoplasmic reticulum (ER) integral membrane proteins, involved in the regulation of calcium release mediated by ryanodine (RyRs) and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3Rs) receptors, respectively. While TRIC-A is mainly expressed in excitable cells, TRIC-B is ubiquitously distributed at moderate level. TRIC-B deficiency causes a dysregulation of calcium flux from the ER, which impacts on multiple collagen specific chaperones and modifying e… Show more

“…Transmembrane Protein 38A (TMEM38A), also known as trimeric intracellular cation channel type A (TRIC-A) (33), functions as a monovalent cation channel essential for facilitating rapid intracellular calcium release. TRIC-A plays a crucial role in modulating calcium ion transport within cardiac muscle cells (34,35), and its expression is observed during the early stages of zebrafish development (34). ID4 is intricately associated with cancer, with processes such as proliferation, differentiation, migration, and invasion involving numerous cancer types (36)(37)(38)(39).…”

“…High embryo lethality may also be linked to impaired organogenesis and immunity, as evidenced by mutants in knockout genes such as LOC795232 [ 225 ], sphk1 [ 226 ], asap1a , asap1b [ 227 ], and zrsr2 [ 228 ]. The regulation of cartilage and bone formation, bone mineralization, and osteoblast differentiation involves sox9 [ 229 ], vwa1 [ 230 ], tmem38b [ 231 ], ppp2r3b [ 68 ], col11a2 [ 69 ], and wnt16 [ 232 ] genes. In common carp, the sp7a gene serves a similar function [ 24 ].…”
