The oxidation of alcohols, methoxymethyl ethers, acetals and ketals to their corresponding carbonyl compounds with Fe(NO 3 ) 3 .9H 2 O is efficiently promoted in the presence of NaHSO 4 .H 2 O. All reactions were performed in the absence of solvent in good to high yields. Availability, stability and non-toxicity of the reagents, mild reaction conditions, absence of solvent, relatively short reaction times, good to high yields of the products, and easy work-up are advantages of the proposed method.
