Abstract:We propose a kinetically driven mechanism based on the breaking of the spatial reflection symmetry to describe the magnetic moment and the torque observed by for the LaAlO3/SrTiO3 system. We find that the itinerant electrons are in a zero helicity state and predict the existence of charge inhomogeneities that cross the interface at constant rate. There is mass and thickness anisotropies between the two sides of the interface.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
