Zinc and cadmium complexes based on bis-(1H-tetrazol-5-ylmethyl/ylethyl)-amine ligands: structures and photoluminescence properties

Abstract: Nine zinc and cadmium coordination compounds with bis-(1H-tetrazol-5-ylmethyl/ylethyl)-amine were synthesized and structurally characterized, and the fluorescent emission and fluorescence lifetime of complexes 1–9 have been investigated and discussed.

“…In addition, the luminescence lifetimes of compounds 1 – 3 and 5 are calculated to be 50, 2, 2, and 1 ns, respectively, that arise from a singlet state, much shorter than the ones resulting from a triplet state (>10 –3 s). 60,61…”

“…Furthermore, the luminescence decay curve was fitted by exponential function as I(t) = A exp(−t/τ), and the luminescence lifetime of CP 1 was 48.87 ns. The value of luminescence lifetime for CP 1 was fairly shorter than a triplet state (>10 −3 s), in this context, the luminescence emission of CP 1 should derive from a singlet state [40]. The good photoluminescent property of CP 1 provided the impetus to further investigate the quantum yield (QY) and corresponding decay lifetimes.…”
