“…[40] The O 1s spectrum is deconvoluted into three peaks at 529.6 eV, 531.9 eV and 533.0 eV, which are attributed to the lattice oxygen, oxygen vacancy and adsorbed oxygen (Fig- ure 2f). [41] XPS spectra of FTO-H show almost identical results (Figure S7b-d). EDX spectroscopy further reveals the atomic ratio of Fe: Ti is 2.16 for FTO-E and 2.51 for FTO-H, but large amount of oxygen atoms loss in quantity for FTO-E, which indicates the formation of massive Vos in FTO-E (Figure S9).…”

“…In the literature, O ads is favored because it is very likely the catalytic site for the activation of oxidative species. 23,24 Here, the detection of O ads means the existence of a surface oxygen vacancy, 25,26 which results in the presence of exposed In 3+ sites. Accordingly, both NH 3 -TPD and CO 2 -TPD experiments were performed to evaluate the surface acidity and basicity, respectively.…”

“…As shown in Figure 4C, the strong electron paramagnetic resonance signals at g = 2.003 over catalysts are mainly associated with unpaired electrons in the oxygen vacancies. 46,47 The signal intensities are in a decreasing order: 50Ce−Mn > 100Ce−Mn > 5Ce−Mn > 10Ce−Mn > 0Ce−Mn, suggesting that the number of oxygen vacancies can be modulated by adjusting the incorporated Ce content. The intense signal over 50Ce−Mn confirms the presence of abundant oxygen vacancies, which induce the formation of active oxygen species for the reaction.…”
