Objective: To describe the studies disseminated in online journals about the nursing care in the pre-and post-operative bariatric surgery.Method: This is an integrative review of literature, a method that aims to gather and synthesize results of research about a topic. We conducted a survey of 405 articles, which, after passing by the inclusion and exclusion criteria, resulted in 8 scientific productions for analysis. Results:The selected publications were divided into two thematic categories: Nursing care for the patient undergoing bariatric surgery and systematization of nursing care for patients under bariatric surgery. Conclusion:The analysis of these studies evidences the importance of the nurse as an active member of the health team and essential in the whole process of bariatric surgery that the patient undergoes. It was also seen that the systematization of nursing care is determinant for a good recovery of these patients.
Introduction Thoracolumbar and lumbar fractures are serious lesions associated commonly with neurological deficits. Posterior stabilization by internal fixation is actually a frequent procedure for the treatment of unstable fractures. The objective of this study is to retrospectively analyze the functional outcome of segmental spine instrumentation of unstable thoracolumbar and lumbar fractures, and the association with neurological impairment. Materials and Methods This retrospective study included 70 patients (49 men and 21 women) with acute unstable thoracolumbar and lumbar fractures, between January 1996 and December 2007 treated with segmental instrumentation (61 with transpedicular fixation and 9 sublaminar wiring fixation). The medium age was 38.22 years (15 to 70 years) and the medium time of follow-up was 75.60 months (20 to 150 months). The fractures were in 14 cases D12, 26 L1, and 30 in other locations. The evaluation included location, mechanism, and type of fractures and associated injuries, neurological symptoms pre- and postsurgery, complications, and radiograph evaluation of the degree of reduction. The injuries were evaluated with the thoraco-lumbar injury classification and severity score (TLICS) and the patients with the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) and visual pain analogical scale. Results The lesion resulted from a fall from height in 71.6%, from a car accident in 20%, and from another cause in 8.6%. In 56 cases 1 vertebra was affected, in 12 two vertebras and in 2 multi-level injuries. The angle of kyphosis was on average 22.1. Vertebral body was completely restored in 48 cases and incompletely in 22 (up to 5 deficit). TLICS was 5 in 25.7%, 6 in 21.4%, 7 in 11.4%, 8 in 11.4%, and 9 in 8.6%. 55.7% of the patients had no neurologic lesions; 7.1% nerve root, 14.3% incomplete and 20% complete cord lesion and 2,9% with cauda equina. 71.4% returned to work: 57.1% to the same and 14.3% to a lighter job; and the rest didn't work at all. According to the ODI, 36 patients had <20% disability, 21>20 to 40%, 7>40 to 60% and 6>80%. Conclusion Work status correlated directly with neurological impairment but not with injury level or mechanism. Although the important trauma experienced by these patients is return to work and results in the ODI were good. The group with complete neurological lesion had elevated disability scores associated with functional impairment. With adequate and early treatment of spine fractures, we can prevent further neurological deficits. Objective: Verify the main care measures for the newborn in neonatal intensive care units in Brazil through an integrative scientific study.Method: This is an integrative review, in which, it is possible to identify, analyze and synthesize research results with the inclusion of experimental and non-experimental studies. A total of 133 articles were collected. After reading titles, exclusion criteria and reading resumes, 10 were left, in which the sample was composed. Results:The selected publications were placed in 3 thematic categories: The importance of knowledge in nursing care, to the internal NB in NICU; Nursing evaluation and care used for pain relief in NB; Main factors and adverse events that may lead to the hospitalization of the newborn and the increase of morbidity and mortality in an NICU. Conclusion:The analysis of the aforementioned study exposes the importance and main nursing care that can be administered in newborns in a NICU, so that the reduction of neonatal mortality can be provided.
Objective: To identify relevant evidence to the peculiarities of nursing care to women in situation of unsafe abortion.Method: This is a survey of integrative review of literature, where the databases used were LILACS, BDENF, MEDLINE and SCOPUS. The data collection occurred during the months of September and October 2016, articles were in Portuguese, English and Spanish, from 2006 to 2016. The sample was composed of 14 studies. Results: Studies have shown that nursing care is carried out in a technicist and without quality service; contrary to the norms of the Code of Ethics for nurses. There were willing two thematic categories: reasons that led the women to practice unsafe abortion and the nursing care provided to women in a situation of abortion. Conclusion:Trials, prejudice, religiosity and moral values of nurses, contribute to the precariousness of quality assistance to these women.
Objective: Identify the life perspectives of adolescents in the puerperal period, identifying their feelings regarding motherhood.Method: Qualitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study, carried out at a public maternity hospital located in João Pessoa/PB. The population consisted of 16 adolescents in the puerperal period. Data were collected from semi-structured questionnaires and the data analysis used descriptive statistics. The Research Ethics Committee of Nova Esperança Colleges approved it, protocol number 41/14 and CAAE: 24222214.0.0000.5179. Results:The following categories emerged: 1. Sensations and feelings related to the discovery of being a mother; 2. Concern about herself and the baby; 3. Changes in the life routine; 4. Perspectives for future projects. The results reinforce the need to know better the dreams and the ideals that guide the life projects of the adolescents in the puerperal period, in an attempt to construct prevention strategies that are closer to the needs generated in this population group. Conclusion:The adolescents believed in a promising future, despite difficulties encountered resulting from motherhood. The contribution of the study as a subsidy for the reflection of health professionals about the problem of being a mother during adolescence stands out, which positively influences the quality of care.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
