X-ray optics research and development for SPring-8 beamlines are described. These include standard developments of monochromators, high-heat load optics, wide energy-range monochromators for bending beamlines, long x-ray mirrors, and single and graded d-spacing synthetic multilayers.
SPring-8 is constructing most of its beamlines using a combination of standardized components. The structures of the beamlines are also standardized according to the light-source characteristics. Speci®cations of components as well as the uni®ed method of assembly and alignment are described.
This paper proposes a rotor damper as a device to reduce the rotor loss. The rotor damper is a thin copper plate inserted between the magnets and the rotor shaft. The eddy current in this damper can suppress the flux harmonics with minimum rotor loss. Both analytical estimation and numerical simulation are performed. The experimental results show that the technique is effective and practical.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
