Ingredients other than cement, water& aggregates that import a specific quality to either plastic(fresh)mix or the hardened concrete (ASTMC 496) is called concrete admixture. In this paper analysis of properties of concrete using banana peel as admixture is studied and verified the strength of concrete and temperature emitted due to chemical reaction to the normal Portland cement. As banana’s peel is rich in natural fiber and it is well known source of potassium. The flexural strength of concrete by using banana peel powder as admixture has increased, but considerable lesser compressive strength has increased. The percentage of transmission temperature and reduction time of temperature has decreased; hence it is clear that the exothermal reaction in concrete has been reduced by using dried banana peel powder as admixture.
As building industry evolves, stronger more durable and increasingly specialized products are in demand fiber reinforcement took an important role, fiber reinforcement to meet requirement changed with material composition and patterns such as fiber mesh, micro fibers, macro fibers, etc. In this paper analysis of properties of concrete using nylon fiber as fibre reinforcement admixture is studied and verified the strength of concrete to the normal Portland cement. Using nylon fiber the compressive strength and flexural of concrete has increased to very limited extend. As the friction between concrete and nylon fiber is very less, so it gives very less interlocking between concrete.
Aggregate occupies most of the volume of the concrete. It is the stuff that the cement paste coats and binds together. The composition, shape, and size of aggregate all have significant impact on the workability, durability, strength, weight and shrinkage of concrete. In this paper analysis of properties of concrete using clay soil aggregates as course aggregate in concrete, transmitting temperature and temperature reduction time to normal Portland cement in different grade of concrete. Using clay soil aggregate as fine aggregate the transmitting temperature and temperature reduction time will reduces. This gives better results hence we can use clay soil aggregate as course aggregate where temperature of concrete plays an important role. Using expanded clay pebbles as fine aggregates increases the aesthetic appearance, so this can be used in manufacturing ceramics, tiles and crockeries.
A study was carried out on the impact of quarrying and crushing waste on the quality of soil in Tumkur District. The quarries located in different parts of Tumkur District produces quarry wastes (aggregates), blasted materials (fly rocks), chemicals (explosives used for blasting) and dust (granite powder) generated from activity are spread and settled in the surrounding area. The soil samples were collected both near and away from the quarry and crushing sites. The collected samples were analyzed for various physico-chemical parameters viz temperature, pH, EC, organic carbon, nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus, zinc, copper, manganese, iron and boron using standard methods. The results revealed the deterioration of soil quality near the quarrying and crushing sites and this can be attributed due to the accumulation of dust. The soil properties are less affected away from the quarry sites.
Chemical admixtures are the ingredients in concrete other than Portland cement, water and aggregate those are added to mix immediately before or during mixing. These admixtures are primarily used to reduce the cost of concrete construction, to modify the properties of hardened concrete, to ensure the quality of concrete during mixing, transportation, placing curing and to overcome certain emergences during concrete operations. In this paper analysis of properties of concrete using potassium power as admixture is studied and verified the strength of concrete and temperature emitted due to chemical reaction to normal Portland cement. Using potassium powder the temperature emitted due to exothermal reaction of concrete has reduced. Thus gives better results hence we can use this potassium powder as an admixture where the temperature and the emitting temperatures place a crucial role in construction and maintenance.
