Phytoadaptogens (ginseng, eleutherococcus, rhodiola rosea, aralia, etc.) have a wide spectrum of biological activity, supporting the body in a state of nonspecific increased resistance to stress. The second part of the review provides information of the phytoadaptogens normalizing effects on the cardiovascular system. Analyzes current data on the antitumor properties of phytoadaptogens in relation to the effect on the onset and development of tumours, metastasis, recurrence, development of cytostatic disease, confirming the prospect of their using in drugs for prevention and biotherapy of tumour diseases.Past 1 see: Phytoadaptogens in the tumours biotherapy and geriatrics (Past 1). Russian Journal of Biotherapy 2020;19(2):13–21.
The review reflects the history of phytoadaptogens studies (ginseng, eleutherococcus, etc.), which are considered to be geroprotectors by Eastern medicine for centures. They have a complex of protective effects on the body, as well as increasing its antitumor resistance. The first part of the review describes the antistress, immuno- and hormone-modulating, cognitive and neuroprotective properties of adapto gens. Together with the synchronizing effects on biorthms adaptogens are essential for preventive oncology.
The aim of this study was the morphological investigation of the CBA mice liver tissue at different stages of ontogenesis as well as during liquid form multifitoadaptogen therapeutic administration.Materials and methods . The study objects are the liver samples of CBA male mice (subline CBA / LacY). Experimental animals received a 10 % solution of multifitoadaptogen from 6 months of age until natural death. Tissue samples were fixed in neutral buffered formalin and embedded in paraffin. Sections from paraffin blocks were stained with hematoxylin and eosin. The structure of the liver tumours was determined as well as the quantitаtive degree of leukocyte infiltration in the tumour tissue. Results . The tumours morphologically structured as moderately differentiated trabecular hepatocarcinomas (at 8 months of age) and low differentiated trabecular-acinar hepatocarcinomas (aged 22 months) were revealed in CBA male mice. Higher lever of leukocyte infiltration in hepatocarcinomas of experimental animals was determined. Conclusion . Leukocyte infiltration may be important for antitumour immune reaction as well as for reduction of the tumour formation incidence in high-cancer mice.
Classic phytoadaptogens (Panax ginseng, Rhodiola rosea, Aralia mandshurica, Oplopanax elatus, Eleutherococcus senticosus, Leuzea carthamoides, Schisandra chinensis) have a complex protective effects, increasing the antitumor control of organisms. However, resistance to some adaptogens can develop. Therefore, the elaboration of multicomponent phytoadaptogen complexes based on the principle of a rational combination of complementary biologically active substances are relevant and scientifically significant. The use of several adaptogens in the herbal formula considers the absence of the organisms resistance. The review presents Russian and foreign studies devoted to the search for potential phytoadaptogens, as well as the development of complexes based on them. The possibility of regulating the protective systems of organism by components of phytoextracts with different points of pharmacological action has been shown. The advantages of multicomponent phytomixtures in comparison with individual adaptogens are substantiated. The many-sided experimental in vitro and in vivo investigations of Russian herbal formula are colligated. Its clinical application has been demonstrated in relation to a benign tumour, precancerous disease, advanced cancer process, and neurodegenerative pathology. The prospects of using the herbal formula preparations as a part of integrative medicine including oncological and age-related pathologies are shown.
