BROOKLYN, NY — August 19, 2020 — scite, a platform for discovering and evaluating scientific articles via Smart Citations, and Citationsy, an independent reference management tool used by a quarter of a million researchers around the world, have partnered to help researchers easily check the reliability of articles before they cite them.
Smart Citations, as pioneered by scite, show the citation context, the location of the citation in the citing paper, and a classification indicating if the citation provides supporting or disputing evidence. Thus, helping users see how an article has been cited and if it has been supported or disputed by subsequent research.
scite made Smart Citation badges freely available earlier this week and within the same day, Citationsy was able to embed them into their tool. This integration makes it easy for researchers and students to check how an article has been cited in the literature before citing it themselves.
Josh Nicholson, co-founder and CEO of scite says, “We’re excited to work with Citationsy, an innovative startup tackling the thorny problem of reference management. We’ve always encouraged researchers to ‘scite before they cite,’ and I believe this partnership will make that easier than ever. Amazingly, it took only 15 minutes from the initial email to integration between the two tools!”
“We at Citationsy are very happy to be one of the first applications to offer scite’s new Smart Citation Badge to our users” Cenk Özbakır, founder of Citationsy says. “This new feature will provide them with more valuable insights into the articles they look up and cite. We hope that enhancing our referencing tool with next-generation features like these will help solidify Citationsy’s lead as the worlds #1 referencing tool for students and researchers”
