The partnership builds upon an already established working relationship between the two companies, including the integration of scite’s Smart Citations into J-Gate, a search and discovery tool developed by Informatics and used by hundreds of universities. In addition to the integration of Smart Citations, Informatics will also act as the exclusive re-seller of scite in India.
Informatics has a long and successful track record of providing innovative information access, delivery and management tools for education and research in India, even selling citation databases as early as the 1990s.
Mr. N V Sathyanarayana, Chairman & Managing Director of Informatics says, “scite is a new generation citation database which is going to re-define citation metrics. The idea of determining whether the author has cited a paper supporting or contradicting the claims made by the cited paper in the citing context is a ground-breaking innovation developed by scite using AI & deep-learning techniques.
Josh Nicholson, co-founder and CEO of Scite says, “I first met Sathya two years ago at the Charleston Library Conference and he has been a joy to work with since then. His knowledge and experience in this space and especially in India have been invaluable to me, and I’m thrilled to announce this partnership with Informatics as we continue to bring the power of scite to researchers everywhere.”
scite is a Brooklyn-based startup that helps researchers better discover and evaluate scientific articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contradicting evidence. Scite is used by researchers from dozens of countries and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
Informatics, a Bangalore-based company in India, is an early pioneer in the information business with a focus on online information since its beginning in 1980, and the developer of J-Gate, which is the world’s largest e-Journal database indexing articles from 48,000+ online available scholarly journals in the English Language.
