Brooklyn, NY — November 3, 2021 — scite, an award-winning research tool that helps researchers and students discover and understand research, has signed an indexing agreement with Emerald Publishing.
scite has pioneered the use of Smart Citations–citations that show the in-text citation and indicate whether the paper provides supporting or contrasting evidence. This allows researchers and students to see more nuanced information about how a study has been mentioned in the literature. Additionally, by making such citation statements searchable, users can use scite to see what expert analyses have been done and what they say about virtually any topic.
Through this indexing agreement, scite will utilize its state of the art system to automatically extract citation statements from full-text articles from Emerald Publishing, making them discoverable on scite, improving both the coverage of social sciences on scite and enhancing the discoverability of Emerald articles.
Josh Nicholson co-founder and CEO says, “We’re very happy to be working with Emerald Publishing. We have many social science researchers using scite and are happy to increase our coverage in this area.”
Sally Wilson, Publishing Director at Emerald Publishing says,“Emerald is delighted to sign this indexing agreement with scite as it reinforces our commitment to leading the charge towards meaningful impact. scite allows Emerald to not only provide more post-publication support to authors through increased discoverability of our social and applied sciences research, but it also provides an evidence-based approach that adds context to citations that is of benefit to the researcher and wider academy when considered alongside a range of complementary metrics”
scite is a Brooklyn-based startup that helps researchers better discover and evaluate scientific articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contradicting evidence. scite is used by researchers from dozens of countries and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
