0513 Numerical Simulation of Jet Flow Issued into Density-Stratified Fluid

Abstract

Jet flow ， iSsued into a density − stratified Huid in a tank ， and 七he resultant mixing phenom − ena are simula 七ed ． The veLoCity and concentration fields were experimentaily investigated by the authors ， previeus study ． The upper and lower fiuids are water and NaCl − water solution respeCtively ， and the lower fiuid is issued vertically upward from a nozzle at the bottom of the tank ． The simulation highlights that the jet behavieT depends on the Reynolds number and that it agrees well wit11 七 he experimental result ． The simulation also demonstrates that 七 he mbdng between two Huids ， prometed with the vortical How
