1??W of blue 465-nm radiation generated by frequency doubling of the output of a high-power diode laser in critically phase-matched LiB_3O_5

Abstract: Blue 465-nm radiation is generated by frequency doubling of the output of an InGaAs diode-laser oscillator-amplifier system in critically phase-matched LiB(3)O(5) (LBO). The diode-laser system emitted 4 W of single-frequency 930-nm radiation in a near-diffraction-limited beam (M(2)<1.2) . The laser power is enhanced to values of up to 150 W in a resonant external ring cavity. The LBO crystal is placed at a resonator internal focus. The frequency doubling in the LBO crystal generates blue radiation at 465 nm wi… Show more

“…They could couple a fundamental power of 1.7 W into the SHG ring cavity and achieve a maximum SH output power as high as 1 W. The overall opto-optical conversion efficiency was 24% [155], mainly limited by the coupling losses of more than 50% at the resonant cavity.…”

“…A commonly used approach in reaching the blue part of the spectrum is second harmonic generation of near-infrared solid-state lasers or diode lasers. The second harmonic generation can be performed internal to the laser resonator 1,2 or in external enhancement resonators 3,4 . Using common diode-pumped solid-state lasers it is only possible to reach blue wavelengths above 440 nm 5 although the use of Ti:Sapphire lasers extend the spectral coverage of solid-state lasers to shorter wavelengths.…”

“…This concept is much simpler and provides high long-term stability compared e.g. to SHG in external high finesse enhancement cavities [6].In this paper we report on the generation of 550 mW of blue light at 460 nm by single pass frequency doubling of picosecond pulses generated by an InGaAs diode laser MOPA-system in periodically poled KTiOPO3 (KTP). To our knowledge this is the highest average power generated by frequency doubling diode laser radiation without using a resonant enhancement cavity.…”
