Abstract:An intensive electrocaloric effect in the uniaxial ferroelectric NH 4 HSO 4 near the second-order phase transition ( T 1 ≈ 271 K) is studied. A high electrical conductivity of the NH 4 HSO 4 crystal is revealed, and its temperature dependence is investigated. The results obtained are analyzed together with the data available for the ferroelectrics, which hold promise for the use as solid-state cooling agents.
