“…Our literature review showed that, in most cases, the general public and even patients' family members possess negative attitudes towards bipolar patients, which negatively affects patients' quality of life (Bassirnia et al, 2015). Also, we found that internalized stigma is one of the most important consequences of living with bipolar patients experienced by their family members (Shamsaei et al, 2013). The importance of negative attitudes towards bipolar disorder, the indispensable role of bipolar patients' families in the treatment process of the disease, the negative consequences of stigmatization on bipolar patients and their family members, and, finally, the lack of similar studies in Iran suggests a need for research in this area.…”
