Abstract:SummaryCallicarpa glabra Koidz., described from the Bonin Islands in 1918, is illustrated. Its ecology and evolution are discussed along with the adaptive radiation of Callicarpa in the Bonin Islands. Oceanic island biota offer fascinating examples of evolution, but are also vulnerable to disturbance, so further efforts are needed to conserve the biodiversity of the Bonin Islands.
